Using Color at Scale
Developing a streamlined and scalable design system for BCIT—drawing inspiration from IKEA’s clarity and functionality—led to a stronger brand identity, more efficient cross-functional collaboration, and consistent user experiences across digital interfaces.
Context
Prior to this initiative, BCIT’s digital presence was fragmented. Multiple teams had produced interfaces in isolation, leading to inconsistency in tone, layout, and user interaction.
Visual elements ranged from detailed illustrations to minimalist layouts, with varied use of gradients and colors. While each part functioned independently, there was no unified system tying the brand together.
This redesign addresses those gaps, reinforcing brand recognition and delivering a cohesive, user-centered experience across all platforms.
